Blog Comments Sense

October 27, 2008

By Judith Kallos

When you contribute your comments to other’s Blogs, it is an opportunity to show your personality, expertise and gain exposure for your Web site.

What many seem to not understand is that Blogs are about opinions and conversations not about one-sided desires for self-promotion. In the almost rabid quest to attain incoming one-way links to their Web sites, Blogs are being hit with generic dribble from marketers that serve no purpose other than reflecting the commenter’s desire to gain a coveted inbound link.

I have a handful of Blogs and each and everyone is moderated. By being moderated this means that any comments submitted need to be approved by me before being added to my Blogs for public viewing. My Blogs — my call — and I am very persnickety about what gets added to my Blogs by those I don’t know. It’s called quality ..

Top 3 reasons it pays to be a product vendor.

August 10, 2008

Most people who get into business online start off either building web sites for AdSense revenue or being an affiliate of other people’s products. That’s a reasonable way to begin, since there’s less work, less responsibility, and probably most important for people starting out, less risk involved.

But the ..

Top Tip – Link Building Using Google Alerts

July 23, 2008

By Mike Seddon

One of the key components to any successful website is the number and quality of their inbound links.

There are many ways in which you can attract links to your site. Some good, some not so good!

One strategy that I have been using very successfully is to combine article writing with Google Alerts.

Here’s how it is done.

Step One: Write some articles.

Start writing articles and ideally make sure they are related in some way to your business.

I suggest you prepare at least a couple of articles and I would avoid writing them in Microsoft Word. Try to use something like ..

How I got page 1 for the search term “soccer tricks” in Google

July 20, 2008

At first I couldn’t believe either and I almost thought that’s impossible! But I needed more exposure for my site to increase my adsense revenue and also increase my readership. It was way back in September 2006 when I first started a Freestyle Soccer Tricks blog. So I began reading all the articles about internet marketing and more importantly on how to increase targeted traffic to my blog. One thing I noticed is that for search engine optimization to be successful, there are two types of inbound links, organic and artificial links. Inbound links from other sites to your blog or website are natural links like for example, links from ezine websites. Artificial links is when you request a link exchange from other websites. Now I’m not a big fan on artificial links because you need credibility to earn links from other websites plus even if there are other sites that are willing to exchange with you, they might be desperate or spam.

So I chosed on building links in an organic fashion. I knew it was a long term journey to get my website to the top. One of the ways to get more inbound links is to submit more genuine articles at ezine websites and link using the resource box available. Writing articles can be tough for the first time and especially if English is not your mother tongue language. But let me emphasise that writing is not about your english grammer skills but it comes more from your heart. You just write simply from what you think is right and express it.

If you’ve those two qualities, then you’re ready to go. But there’s one thing that always goes through my mind, and I mean always, ” where do I start ?”. I normally face this problem time and time again. But until I bought Jim Edwards Turn Words Into Traffic, things began to change gradually. I can honestly admit that there are tons of information and ebooks you can get on the internet. But one thing that distinguish Turn Words Into Traffic from the rest is it’s simplicity and effectiveness. It’s not just the step by step approach but also gets you start writing your favourite articles immediately.

Here’s a fact about this book, Turn Words Into Traffic will get you start writing articles immediately but not producing a perfect article unless you’re a genius! Yes, it took time for me to get a 5 star vote in one of the ezine websites. Finally after about four months I received on average a 4 star votes in one of the ezine websites Ezine Article.

The amount of viewers ( 7116 times ) is quite staggering and imagine if say 30% of them went to your website. So as I finish writing an article, I’d open an Article Submitter Pro software to submit my article to a list of ezine directories. I usually do this at 7 o’clock in the morning and spend about 15 to 30 minutes submitting my finished article to ezine sites. The great thing about using the Article Submitter Pro software is it’s user friendly and makes submitting articles easy, fast and they even explain it using videos step by step. Of course,  the downfall is that some sites have problem reloading their pages otherwise the software is great.

It took around 5 months to get a Page Rank of 2 in my blog, http://soccer-tricks.blogspot.com. So start your blogging or internet marketing day by writing articles and submit them to ezine sites. All the best !

Internet Marketing Newbies: What NOT To Do On Facebook

July 7, 2008

A large number of people on Facebook are now using it for promotional purposes. Of course, this means that there is going to be a whole ton of promotional email that inundates your inbox.

If you’re a well-respected internet marketer, I don’t mind receiving some occasional emails from you. But if you are someone whom I do not know, you’d better be careful because there are many times where you will lose friends.

Such people who send out unsolicited emails are often frowned upon, unless you really know how to craft a good message. So lesson #1 – do not send unsolicited promotional email your friends on Facebook. Why? One is because people to respond to a thread in your mass email will keep getting responses from other members as well. This gets very irritating after a while. Another reason is simply because you want to be credible. If you want to be perceived as a credible individual, follow a system. Make sure that you constantly communicate with your friends, particularly in a one-on-one fashion. This is what I have advocated.

What you can do is to set up a Group on Facebook and drive people to that site instead. You can carry on with your promotional messages there, and nobody will actually be miffed. The worst they can do is to stop being a member in that group.

Lesson #2 is this: you have to provide good content or a good story. If people watch your emails come in with nothing more than a link to your site, that makes it ridiculous because there is no context. You have to tell people WHY you are sending such a link, and entice them to see it as something valuable. If you can offer value, then why not set up a different Group so that people who fit in with the niche you are in will be willing to listen.

This is the reason why niche research and understanding your target market is so important. It’s something that some experts forget to pay attention to, and something that newbies must learn – or face 100% failure.

4 Simple Tips for Targeted Traffic

October 19, 2006

4 Simple Tips for Targeted Traffic

Tip! search engine optimization

Here are 4 of the most easiest and simplest things to implement into a site for a very generous boost in traffic. These can all be implemented within a very short time. Of course depending on the Search Engine you most likely will have to wait for them to spider your site, but when they do,… the Targeted Traffic will come.

Ok,…

– Tip 1 –
It’s a good idea to insert a link to a sitemap into your index page at the bottom, if this is the page you paid for inclusion with.

Tip! tell a friend

Why?

This is so, when the search engine spiders crawl your site they will ALSO spider your sitemap thus indexing ALL of your other webpages via the sitemap. Thus, indexing your whole site into the search engine(s). And having each page in the engines is very good and beneficial for ya, thus giving you more coverage with your site.

Tip! article marketing

– Tip 2 –
Try to restrict your website to a minimal number of directories as possible.

Tip! diretory listing

Why?

Search engines like to see a URL or web address of like:

http://www.yoursite.com/page.html

NOT one that looks like

http://www.yoursite.com/this_dir/that_dir/another_dir/page.html

So try to restrict your site to as few directories as possible and try to put your most important pages as close to the root directory as possible too. So the spiders don’t have to “fish through” directory after directory to find your pages.

How to generate good, targeted traffic to any website Important tips and techniques to seriously increase the quantity AND the quality to your site.

– Tip 3 –
When creating your website, implement a “reverse pyramid style” construction.

Why?

Search engines like to see a broad to specific layout. Your index page, would be your broad or wide theme about your whole site, and your interior pages should focus in or “zero-in” to a specific interest. For example, if your site is on dogs, a more specific area or page would be show dogs and/or working dogs etc.

and finally

– Tip 4 –
When submitting your website to the engines, do a bit of research and seek out the search engine(s) that “feeds” the other search engines and thus submit to the one or ones that feed the most to other engines.

Why?

Many search engines get their results from other search engines. For example, Google, supplies results or feeds results to AOL, Netscape, and iWon. So, if you get indexed within Google, you will most likely get into the indexes of AOL, Netscape, and iWon since these other engines get their results from Google. You get the idea? So even though you might only be submitting to one engine, you are “indirectly” submitting to many more.

5 Top Tips For Attracting Targeted Traffic One of the most common needs of online business owners is traffic. An owner of a network of web sites receiving well over a million hits a month gives you five top tips for increasing targeted traffic to your web

These 4, small but very powerful ideas implemented into your site will bring you a big boost of Targeted Traffic. Because don’t forget search engines are THE most largest source for Targeted Traffic online today.

This is because, whoever goes searching on a Search Engine is looking for one thing and usually one thing only. So if your site is present within the top pages of the niche or topic that visitor/searcher is looking for, you are the most likely candidate and target for him/her to hit by having your website right there in front of them.

Targeted Customers Having targeted visitors, converting into buying customers is what SEO is all about.

6 Surefire Ways to Drive More Targeted Website Traffic while Reducing Advertising Cost

September 23, 2006

Here are 6 ways to drive targeted traffic to your website:

Pay-Per-Click Advertising
Pay-Per-Click is a simple type of paid advertising that most
search engines, including some of the largest ones, now
offer. It reqires a bid for a “per-click” basis, which
translates to your company paying the bid amount every time
the search engine directs a visitor to your site. There is
the added bonus that when a per-click site sends your
website traffic, your site often appears in the results of
other prevalent search engines.

In order to determine if pay-per-click is a cost effective
form of marketing for your business, you must do some
computing to figure out how much each visitor to your site
is worth. You can compute this value by dividing the profit
you make on your website over a given period of time by the
total number of visitors for that same time period. For
example, if your site made $5000 in profits and there were
2500 hits, each visitor would be theoretically worth 50
cents. The basic formula is profits divided by visitors.

2 Ways to Optimize your Ads:

Description
The object of your description is to be as specific as
possible so that only those visitors who are likely to buy
service or product go to your site. Using expert marketing
copy on your description is both precise and enticing to
attract the most qualified visitors to your site.

Keywords
Bidding for the right keywords is another essential element
of PPC advertisng. Constantly monitoring and researching
keywords can reduce your advertising cost. Be aware that the
most popular keywords often cost considerably more than 50
cents a click. The only way around this is to bid less for
these phrases or you will be paying too much for each
individual hit.

Promote with Affiliate Programs
Set-up a simple webpage for affiliates to sign-up and
provide them useful marketing tools to promote your product.
When finished, start announcing your affiliate program :

Associate Programs

2-Tier Affiliate Programs

Using Linking Strategies
Extremely important factor to consider for both generating
qualified traffic and improving search engine rankings.
Almost all search engines use link popularity to rank your
website. Link popularity is based on the quality of the
sites you have linked to from your links page. Approach
competitor’s website or any relevant website with high
traffic and ask them politely to link to your website. Doing
it right will generate high traffic from other sites and
improve search engine rankings.

Ezines and newsletters
Imagine being an author on your preffered field, writing
ezines and newsletters and publish them to your TARGETED
audience. Not only people will read your ezines but there’s
a chance that they will enter your site as well. People
starts to see you as an expert while at the same time your
reputation starts to grow and can transform leads to
potential customers. You can submit your ezines to a list of
directories but be warned that some may not accept your
ezine:

Best Ezines

Joint Venture & Partners
Making your site sells is crucial before contacting or
approaching any joint-ventures. You also need to make sure
that your site complements joint-venture’s site as well so
that both parties can benefit from each other. You can start
search for joint-venture by using:

Google

Alexa – Recommended for searching sites with high traffic
and popularity

After finding potential joint-ventures, start contacting
them by fax, mail or telephone.

Search Engine Optimization
At least 85% of people looking for goods and services on the
Internet find websites through search engines such as
Google, Yahoo, and MSN. The idea of optimizing your pages
for high search engine rankings is to attract targeted
customers to your site who will be more than likely to make
a purchase. Aim to have around 250 words on each page, but
if this is not desirable due to your design, aim for at
least 100 carefully chosen words. This is essential as
search engines generally list sites that contain quality
content rather than scintillating graphics. A good way to
this is to optimize each webpage with better keywords and
the place to research your keywords is :

http://www.wordtracker.com

To sum up, there are 5 to 6 ways to promote your product but
many top internet marketers specialize 2 to 3 methods on
average. In my opinion, it doesn’t matter which method you
choose as long as it works the best for your online
business.
